Speakers Biography
AQC
Angelika has an international management background in tourism and over 30 years of experience in the watch industry supply chain. She developped the worldwide OEM market and Aftersales Systems for leather bracelets at one of the biggest players in this field.
Finally, in 2014, 5 of the biggest bracelet manufacturers for luxury watches joined forces and founded the AQC. Since then, Angelika has the honour to be President and Consultant at AQC. In 2015, Angelika decided to invest all her professional strengths in sustainability and to work as an independent consultant, CSR Expert and Coach for high performance teams and personal development. |
CHOPARD
Pauline Evequoz is the Head of Corporate Sustainability at the luxury house of Chopard. She is in charge of the definition and implementation of Chopard sustainability strategy. Pauline also sits on the board of directors of the Swiss Better Gold Association, a non-profit organization initiated by Swiss businesses across the gold supply chains to support responsible artisanal and small-scale mines.
Prior to this, she worked as a consultant on environmental management systems and ESG certifications for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Pauline holds an MA in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), and a second MA in Standardisation and Sustainable Development from the University of Geneva. |
AUDEMARS PIGUET
Graduate in materials physics, Bertrand Paris completed his training with a master's degree in industrial and quality management. His career began in the automotive industry, and 23 years ago he integrated the watchmaking world.
Always passionate about sustainability transformation, he actively supports the establishment of responsible supply chains, especially the AQC mission. |
WATCH & JEWELLERY INITIATIVE 2030
Iris has a background in law and international relations. A sustainability pioneer, leadership executive and coalition-builder, with more than 20 years of global experience working in fast-paced environments including technology, diamonds, jewellery, fashion, and government. She initiated and Chaired the United Nations Global Compact Network Belgium.
She was honoured by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and European Affairs for her leadership role in initiating the Global Compact Network Belgium and for her work on promoting corporate social responsibility in Belgium and abroad with a focus on human rights including children’s rights and the role of business.
In her former role as RJC Executive Director she was dedicated to a ‘members first’ strategy with 20% growth despite COVID. She also launched the Generation Equality Campaign for the global jewellery and watch industry. In July 2022 Iris was appointed as Executive Director & Secretary-General of the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, based at Maison de la Paix in Geneva. Iris has been an active volunteer for the Special Olympics for over 20 years and she ran the NY marathon for UNICEF. She is a Board Member ISEAL and DIAMONDS DO GOOD. |
LOUISIANA ALLIGATOR ADVISORY COUNCIL Christy Plott, Sustainability Education & CITES Representative
Christy Plott is an entrepreneur, conservationist, exotic leather expert, and the creative director and co-owner of American Tanning and Leather. A leading luxury reptile tannery, American Tanning has been recognized by the University of Georgia as one of the 100 fastest growing Bulldog Businesses in the country. Next year, American Tanning will celebrate a century and five generations of family members in the business of trading hides and skins.
A pioneer in both the luxury fashion and wildlife conservation communities, Christy works as a consultant for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries on national and foreign policy around alligator conservation. She serves on the board of directors and holds chair positions for several global conservation and fashion organizations, including the International Crocodilian Farmers Association, the Natural Fibers Alliance, the IUCN Crocodile Specialist Group, and Blood Origins (a nonprofit wildlife conservation organization). Christy is an active member of the Accessories Council of New York and often speaks at public events around the globe to educate designers, luxury brand executives, political leaders, and government officials on the benefits of the leather industry’s sustainable use of alligators and crocodiles.
Christy earned an MBA from Wesleyan College, where she graduated Summa cum laude, and a bachelor’s degree in International Business from the University of Georgia. A Top 40 Under 40 Alumni, Christy recently became a member of the Alumni Board of Directors for the University of Georgia. |
INTERNATIONAL CROCODILIAN FARMER ASSOCIATION (ICFA) Nathan Wall, President & CEO of Wall's Gator Farm II
Nathan is a third-generation farmer with over 35 years of experience in the alligator farming industry. He is an industry leader in developing and implementing higher standards for sustainable and humane animal welfare practices. Nathan is the President and CEO of Wall’s Gator Farm II, WG Alligator Farm, and Brooks Family Alligator Farm II. He serves as a founding board member of the International Crocodilian Farmers Association and has previously served as Treasurer. He is also serving his third term as a member of the Alligator Advisory Council in Louisiana and served on the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission under two governors.
Nathan has always had an innovative mind and strives to achieve the best outcome in any process. He is a major contributor to Louisiana State University to fund alligator research projects and served as Chairman of the Committee to fund and design the LSU Alligator Research Facility. Currently, Nathan is working with five different US universities on various alligator research projects. He is also co-founder of a company dedicated to developing medical uses of alligator product derivatives.
Outside of the alligator industry, Nathan is a pastor and has a passion for ministering to people. He has traveled to Belarus, Poland, Ukraine, India, and Kenya for mission trips and is sponsoring various mission projects in each location. At home, he is always ready to respond to natural disasters throughout the country, including wildfires, tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods. Nathan currently serves as Chairman of the Board for seven US non-profit entities, including a church and a women’s recovery home. He is also on the board of Touch India, a non-profit dedicated to building churches in India. |
FEDERATION OF THE SWISS WATCH INDUSTRY (FH)
Raphaël Schwarz is a chemical engineer from the EPFL. In 2007, he joined the Laboratoire Dubois to work in the chemistry department, and then was successively promoted to head of the leather and polymers department, and finally to head of the technical-legal assistance department. In 2019, he joins the legal division of the Federation of the swiss watch industry (FH) as a regulatory affairs specialist.

Luca Boltri is Vice-Director of UNIC Italian Tanneries, the representative body of the Italian tanning industry, which covers over 60% of the European sector in terms of leather production, turnover and companies.

LEATHER WORKING GROUP Vanessa Brain, Traceability Project Manager
Vanessa joined Leather Working Group (LWG) as the Traceability Manager in 2021 and is responsible for managing LWG’s work on traceability of leather, including developing the chain of custody and deforestation due diligence requirements for LWG.

AUTHENTICAE
Inge Flowers started her career working in the waste industry, and has actively consulted in the waste, leather, and materials fields. Inge is a professional project manager and chartered waste manager having experienced a wide range of projects from research through to construction. Today she is Managing Director of Authenticae, a research and consulting company specialising in responsible leather.
Throughout her career, Inge’s projects have led her to stakeholder engagement, whether in muddy fields, or virtually through online collaborative groups.
Inge is currently project lead for the One 4 Leather group, and Non-Executive Director of Leather UK. She sits on the informal leather sustainability claims working group and coordinates regular sessions for stakeholders in the leather industry focused on campaigns and marketing.

AUTHENTICAE
Karl Flowers is the Technical Director at Authenticae Ltd, which specialise in leather biodegradability and responsible leather.
He started his tanning career with the Leather Industries Research Institute, LIRI (in South Africa) and has taught every topic of leather technology and leather science. Karl’s research focusses on understanding the sustainability and biodegradability of leather and leather-like materials, with an active interest in life cycle analysis systems. |
CARTIER
I worked in the CSR teams for Cartier Watchmaking since 2 years. I join the Maison as an Life Cycle Analysis consultant for the Research and Innovation department. I have a master's degree on environmental science specialized in eco-design.
I work on product LCA, especially on data collection with suppliers, software's modelization and interpretation of the results for opening up of eco-design opportunities.

STAHL Mi Yan, Environmental Impact Manager, ESG (Environment, Social & Governance)
Mi Yan is focused on improving the environmental footprint along Stahl’s whole supply chain, upstream and downstream. This includes establishing LCA models and data collection methodology in order to meet the 2030 Roadmap targets set by the company and communicating with the external market about how environmental impact can be measured and improved.
Mi is also responsible for managing market-driven chemical compliance initiatives in the company, such as ZDHC, ensuring that relevant certifications are achieved and communicated. She is an active participant in chemical supplier working groups and she presents the Stahl case to internal and external stakeholders on chemical compliance topics.
Mi Yan is originally from Ping Xiang, in China. She holds a Masters degree in Environmental Science from Wageningen University, Netherlands. Mi joined Stahl in 2017. |
FILK INSTITUTE Sascha Dietrich, Head of Test Laboratory
In the course of his career with FILK Freiberg, a research and testing institute specialised in leather and leather-like materials, Sascha Dietrich acquired extensive material competence and experience with these materials. In 2017, Sascha Dietrich has been entrusted with the management of the accredited testing laboratory at FILK. While maintaining close relations to leather manufacturers and research institutions around the globe, Dr. Dietrich is also chair of national norm committee NA062-05-51 "Requirements and physical test methods for leather" at DIN and officially nominated DIN delegate for European norm committee CEN TC 289, WG 1-4.

After a PhD in biochemistry at the Pasteur Institute - Paris, Sébastien became Laboratory Manager and then Quality Manager for the pharmaceutical industry. His 13 years of experience in the field of Quality Control and Quality Assurance in both Pharmaceutical and Medical device has been an asset when he arrives at the birth of AQC in 2015.
Sébastien has always been motivated by the challenges of AQC with the implementation of a chemical compliance system, audits, and traceability/transparency activities with so many qualitative exchanges with Brands, Tanners, Bracelet Manufacturers and all other Stakeholders. Moreover, the ISO 9001 certification of AQC has been a real positive and rewarding experience for the AQC team.
Today, Sébastien remains enthusiastic by the new challenges AQC Members of AQC have to face : Life Cycle analysis, CO2 footprint,... and so many more !

After a training as a chemical engineer, and a specialisation in leather (ITECH), my professional career allowed me to work within the world of chemical products, tannery, but also leather goods.
These enriching experiences have given me a global vision of the leather value chain. Today, as a Quality Coordinator, I bring my skills to answer to the various projects and issues that we have to deal with at the AQC. |

Gwénaëlle obtained a bachelor and a master's degree in international relations (HEI), followed by a master's in communication sciences, and then, a few years later, a DEA in commodity trading and shipping.
Her professional career began in London in market research and advertising. Back to Switzerland, Gwénaëlle has worked in professional associations aiming at gathering forces together to facilitate and harmonise systems (in commoditiy trading, in public transport and now in leather bracelets for the watch industry). Her career has been enriched with travels and voluntering around the world.
Today, she is highly motivated by the vision of the AQC and the great potential for synergies in working all together for our planet!

Carole trained as a commercial and management employee before moving into accounting and administration.
She gained 30 years of experience in administration before discovering the multiple fields covered by the AQC. Now, Carole is an integral part of the team and looks forward to continuing to work together to fully support the implementation of the important ongoing and future projects. |

SHUTTLE BUS : Every quarter of an hour, at the airport arrival entrance, a shuttle bus will take guests to the Hilton (2 minutes ride). Walk under the footbridge, the shuttle waits for you there.
WALK : 20-minute walk from Geneva airport and its train station.
CAR : The Hilton has paying parking facilities.
